Eu
No
tinha dado, e no qual ainda acredito, no inicio do ano.
Translation:
This
stack of books in the pictures, is not random. These are all books that I bough
over the months but still haven’t read.
I
usually read them pretty fast, but this stack seems to me excessive.
Earlier
this year I did a post about the evils of the fashion blogs today, very
moralistic and full of reason. But then sales season started, and that was
another story ...
What
is certain is that everything seemed quite hypocritical, after the speech that
I gave at the beginning of the year, and in which I still believe in.
Tive
algum tempo a reflectir sobre isto. De onde vem este impulso de comprar? Nunca
Translation:
I
had some time to reflect on this. Where does this impulse buying come from? I never
saw men go through this, nor become
excited about sales.
I'm
not even talking about all the techniques of marketing and advertising that we
are subjected to daily. Have you ever thought about what leads you to buy a
coat, despite having more than enough coats at home, or have multiple bags only
when you need just one?
When
we are in a store looking at a piece that we love, what moves us to buy it? I
guess in my case, I just think about the many situations in which I will use it
and how they will be much better because it.
You
know that moment in the movies, where the girl is wearing the perfect outfit,
the perfect haircut, the perfect shoes and she conquers the world around her
because of it? I feel that we are all buying this story, which clearly started
with poor Cinderella (all my problems come from watching Disney as a child
ahah) with the white dress and glass slippers that allowed her to be noticed by
the prince and have a shot at eternal love and a fair place in the world
instead of getting a lawyer to restore her father’s inheritance, kicking those
bitches out of her house, and going to the ball with the dress she bought with
her earned money and only then fall in love with a guy that expects more from
you, than looking good.
It
was here that I realized that we are all chasing a dream that doesn’t exist.
Things are a barrier to achieve our potential because we let them define us as
people, and focus our energy on having rather than being.
Men
do not have this obsession with clothes, because we live in a society where
women's power comes from the appearance and men from money.

So
after much reflection, I decided to reach an agreement with myself and threw me
a challenge.
What
happens if stopped buying clothes and books for three months? Last year I threw
myself this challenge for a month and not feeling the need to see what was new
was quite liberating.
It’s
decided then. Let’s see how crazy I get in the meantime!
